Painting en plein air is a French term meaning painting in the open air or painting outdoors. In this 3-hour session, students will take paints and canvases outside on the patio to paint en plein air while looking over the beautiful vistas and views (weather permitting).
The class will explore how to see light and shadow, how to simplify the beautiful scenes as viewed from the vineyard, to compose a painting on your canvas with acrylics. Instructor Patricia Young will instruct the class on how to mix colors from observing nature and to capture the scene that inspires you most. The class will use acrylic paints on canvas panels. Each student participating will create a personally unique acrylic painting that can be framed to hang on a wall or to give as a gift. Materials will be provided. Dress for the weather and wear paint friendly clothes for three hours of art instruction. Enjoy the vineyard views and wine tasting room just steps away. Wine, beer, cider or non-alcoholic drinks along with light bites can be purchased separately in the tasting room.
